‘Paragliding is a fun activity based on mutual trust. In Lanzarote, the flying conditions are magnificent but require flawless technical expertise. My mission is to offer you a sense of wonder, with the guarantee of total safety.’ — Mickaël, your pilot.
1. One Pilot, One Area of Expertise
Safety begins with the person at the controls.
- Professional Certification: Mickaël is a pilot who holds the mandatory French qualifications and the international qualification for professional tandem flying, APPI PRO TANDEM, with thousands of flying hours under his belt in both tandem and solo flights.
- Aerological Analysis: Every day, we study weather patterns specific to the Canary Islands. If the wind is too strong or unfavourable, we do not take off. The flight is postponed or refunded.
- Expertise in the field: We know every corner of the island (Famara, Macher, Orzola). This local knowledge allows us to anticipate turbulence and choose the best time slot.
2. Cutting-edge equipment: zero compromise
Your life depends on the equipment, which is why we only use world-class equipment.
- Annual Inspection: Our wings and harnesses are sent each year to approved inspection centres to check the porosity of the fabric, the strength of the lines and the calibration of the paraglider.
- Double Protection: Each flight is carried out with a latest-generation reserve parachute, which is folded and checked systematically by a professional every year and whenever it is deemed necessary to check it in addition to the annual check.
- Comfort and Protection: Our passenger harnesses are equipped with airbags or back protectors to ensure maximum comfort and safety during take-off and landing.
3. The Process: Safety in Action
We involve you in the process so that you can have peace of mind:
- Ground briefing: Before you get kitted out, Mickaël will give you a simple explanation of take-off and landing procedures. You will know exactly what to do.
- The Pre-flight Checklist: As in aviation, we carry out a systematic check before each take-off: fastenings, carabiners, helmet and wind direction.
- Constant communication: During the flight, Mickaël will communicate with you. If you feel tense, we will adjust the piloting so that the flight remains a moment of pure relaxation.
4. Legal Framework and Insurance
- Registered Structure: Tandem Paradise is an officially registered passenger transport company.
- Aircraft Liability Insurance: You are covered by aircraft liability insurance specific to tandem paragliding, included in each service.
🛡️ Our 3 Golden Rules
- If there is any doubt, we do not take off.
- The equipment is replaced at the slightest sign of wear and tear.
- The passenger is at the heart of the decision: we fly at YOUR pace.

Our history

The history of Tandem Paradise
Tandem Paradise was founded by Mickaël, a French pilot with a passion for paragliding. “I started paragliding in 2008 after a friend suggested it, and I’ve never stopped training in the south-west of France. I then moved to the Alps so I could continue to enjoy myself and improve my flying skills. After obtaining various French licences and completing a thousand flights with passengers, I decided to take my APPI PRO TANDEM diploma to share my passion for paragliding professionally.” Since then, our company has expanded its offering to include various types of flights suitable for all ages, while guaranteeing safety and excellence on every flight. The only things that matter are the safety and enjoyment of our passengers.
🚀 The Discovery Flight: How a Tandem Paragliding Baptism Works
Get ready for an unforgettable experience! Tandem paragliding is accessible to everyone and requires no prior experience. Your instructor will take care of everything. Here’s how your adventure will unfold, step by step:
🤝 Welcome and Briefing
Upon arrival at the meeting point, you will be taken care of by your professional pilot.
- Introduction: Your instructor introduces himself, checks the current weather conditions and answers all your questions.
- Equipment: You are equipped with a helmet and a harness (the comfortable seat in which you will be seated during the flight).
- Instructions: The pilot will clearly explain the few safety instructions, mainly focused on the takeoff phase, which is the most important.
🏃 Takeoff: A Smooth and Rapid Flight
This is the key moment, often the most impressive for the passenger, but always very simple!
- Preparation: The pilot sets up and checks the wing on the ground behind you. He then securely attaches you to his own harness.
- Quick briefing: for a smooth takeoff, landing information will be given to you during the flight.
- Acceleration: At the instructor’s signal, you walk, then run for a few meters depending on the conditions. The passenger’s role is to absolutely not stop running until they are airborne and not to sit down until the instructor tells them to.
- The Takeoff: In just a few strides, the sail inflates, gently lifts you off the ground, and you’re airborne! The sensation is smooth, no freefall, just a transformation of running into gliding flight.
🦅 Flight: Magic and Serenity
Once airborne, stress gives way to wonder. You are comfortably seated in your harness, as if in a suspended armchair.
- Piloting: Your instructor pilots the wing using the controls to steer and search for updrafts (“thermals”) to prolong the flight.
- The Sensations: The sound of the wind is your only companion. An incredible silence allows you to fully appreciate the 360° view. You fly over landscapes, volcanoes, mountains, lakes, and valleys.
- Options: If you wish and if conditions permit, the pilot can let you experience the sensations of “taking the controls” (you briefly hold the brakes) or some dynamic turns (small accelerations).
Fly with peace of mind: Your serenity is our priority
🙋♂️ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
☁️ Sensations and Fear
1. I get dizzy, can I still fly? This is the most frequently asked question! The answer is yes. Dizziness is a phenomenon linked to your connection with the ground (when you are on a ladder or a bridge). When paragliding, your feet are no longer touching the ground, so your brain loses this reference point and the dizziness disappears completely. It feels like you are gliding very gently.
2. Is it a ‘thrill-seeking’ activity? That depends on you! Basic flying is contemplative and very calm. However, if you’re looking for an adrenaline rush, Mickaël can perform a few acrobatic manoeuvres (360°, wing-overs) to give you a thrill. We adapt to your desires!
🏃♂️ Skills and Age
3. How old do you have to be to fly? We welcome passengers aged 6 to 99. Parental authorisation is required for minors. The most important thing is to have a desire to discover the sky!
4. Do you need to be athletic? No. You just need to be able to jog a few metres at take-off. Once in the air, you sit comfortably in your harness as if you were in an armchair.
5. Is there a minimum or maximum weight? Generally, we welcome passengers weighing between 25 kg and 110 kg. These limits may vary slightly depending on the wind strength on the day to ensure complete safety.
🌤️ Weather and Logistics
6. What happens if the weather is bad? Paragliding depends entirely on the wind. Mickaël constantly analyses the weather. If conditions are not optimal for safe flying, we postpone the flight. If you cannot postpone because your stay is coming to an end, we cancel at no cost.
7. How should I dress? Even though it is warm in Lanzarote, it is always cooler in the air.
- Footwear: Trainers or hiking boots (mandatory). No flip-flops or sandals.
- Clothing: Comfortable trousers and a windbreaker or light jacket.
- Accessories: Your sunglasses.
8. Where is the meeting point? Lanzarote has several flying spots (Teguiuse, Famara, Macher, Tenesar, Orzola). The choice of site is made on the day itself, depending on the strength and direction of the wind. Mickaël will send you the exact GPS coordinates via WhatsApp a few hours before the flight.
9. Do you offer a transport service? Yes! If you do not have a hire car, I can collect you directly from your hotel for a small fee. Please specify this when making your booking.
📸 Photos and Booking
10. Can I take photos/videos with me? Of course! Mickaël films the flight with a high-definition GoPro camera. You can choose the photo/video option and take your memories home with you directly on your phone or via a download link.
11. How do I book? It’s very simple. The most efficient way is to send me a message on WhatsApp at +33 6 15 97 61 82. Let me know your dates of stay on the island and the number of people.
